Kentucky Basketball stars are gearing up for the NBA Draft. One mock draft has two Wildcats being drafted by the same team.

Malik Monk and De’Aaron Fox are both going to be picked in the NBA Draft Lottery. The former Kentucky Basketball stars have a chance be drafted by the same team.

The Sacramento Kings have the fifth and tenth pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. The latest Sporting News mock draft has Fox headed to the Kings at number five. Then, at the tenth pick, Malik Monk is slated to be chosen by Sacramento as well.

The Sporting News top 10 picks shakes out like this:

  1. Markelle Fultz, Philadelphia 76ers
  2. Lonzo Ball, Los Angeles Lakers
  3. Josh Jackson, Boston Celtics
  4. Jonathan Isaac, Phoenix Suns
  5. De’Aaron Fox, Sacramento Kings
  6. Dennis Smith Jr., Orlando Magic
  7. Lauri Markkanen, Minnesota Timberwolves
  8. Jayson Tatum, New York Knicks
  9. Frank Ntilikina, Dallas Mavericks
  10. Malik Monk, Sacramento Kings

As most fans of Kentucky Basketball know, the Sacramento Kings love them some Kentucky Wildcats. Two former Wildcats currently play alongside each other in Sacramento. Willie Cauley-Stein as well as Skal Labissiere are making their waves on the young Kings squad. Adding two more Kentucky Wildcats would tie them with the Phoenix Suns with four former alumni on the roster. The Suns have Devin Booker, Brandon Knight, Eric Bledsoe and Tyler Ulis.

The Kings are also the team to give Demarcus Cousins his start in the NBA. A fan favorite at Kentucky, Boogie was a great personality. He quickly became on of the best big men in the NBA. Later, Cousins chose to join Anthony Davis in New Orleans. Willie and Skal became the go-to big men for the Kings. Both have been bright spots on a relatively weak Kings roster.

Will it happen?

Personally, I don’t think the New York Knicks let Malik Monk slide by as their eighth pick. But, anything can happen and last second changes are made at any moment. Also, De’Aaron Fox sliding down to number five is much more expected. Additionally, Monk’s shooting ability is enough to warrant him going within the top eight picks.
