Jarren Williams is becoming a hot commodity. Kentucky Football has pursued this talented Georgia native for quite some time.

Mark Stoops, Vince Marrow as well as quarterback coach Darin Hinshaw have had their eye on Jarren Williams for a number of months. The Kentucky Football program just lost the commitment of the young arm just weeks ago. Days after Williams received the coveted Alabama Crimson Tide offer, he announced his decommitment from Kentucky.

Now, the 6-foot-2 dual threat quarterback is getting some serious attention. At an Elite 11 regional combine along with a number of top quarterback prospects, Williams stood out to the staff. In addition to Williams, the country’s top overall prospect Trevor Lawrence received an invite to the Elite 11 finals.

 Elite 11

The Elite 11 competition is composed of the top 24 quarterbacks in the country. The field roster is determined base off of on-site evaluations at regional combines. The Elite 11 is a highly competitive competition that separates the top tier quarterbacks in the country from the rest. Many of the NFL’s top names have competed in the Elite 11 finals. Alumni include Drew Brees, Teddy Bridgewater, Aaron Rogers, Ben Roethlesberger, Carson Palmer, as well as Matthew Stafford and Andrew Luck.

Jarren Williams will compete with a number of top quarterbacks in the country. The final 11 prospects will then move on to compete in Nike’s The Opening Finals. The competition will heat up in Los Angeles, California. The finals begins June 2 and runs for three days. Events include on-field throwing, route drills, classroom instruction and off-field development.

Williams is still being recruited by Kentucky. Also, many experts are still leaning to the Wildcats as his destination. Additionally, Alabama, LSU, and Florida are in the mix but don’t expect Vince Marrow to give up too easily on the young man. Although 247Sports has him ranked as a three star prospect and a top 20 dual threat quarterback, those stats should improve within the next year.

The Central Gwinnett High School signal-caller would be a huge addition to the Kentucky Football roster. Kentucky has had its fits with top quarterback prospects of Williams’ caliber. If the Cats can land Williams, expect the rest of the 2018 recruiting class to trump that of the 2017 class.
