Nothing makes John Calipari a happier man than hearing of a new commitment. The Kentucky Basketball head coach had an interesting reaction to the Kevin Knox commitment.

Kentucky Basketball head coach John Calipari has been known to express himself. Kentucky fans have dubbed him “Swaggy Cal” due to some of his antics. Coach Calipari’s reaction to learning that another top recruit will be headed to Lexington is nothing short of swaggy.

Kevin Knox

The Knox commitment came to the surprise of many Kentucky Basketball faithful. Not a lot of chatter lead people to believe that the 6-foot-8 small forward was headed elsewhere. The most momentum that was in the public eye was after Michael Porter committed to Missouri. After Porter made splashes headed to Mizzou, Knox took a visit and the buzz around the Tiger program was at an all time high.

But, things worked out in the favor of the Wildcats. Knox will be donning the blue and white next season along with the nations top recruiting class. People also forget that there are still two former five-star players still there in Wenyen Gabriel and Sacha Killeya-Jones.

All things considered, Coach Cal has had a great run to this point at Kentucky. Snagging top recruits is his specialty. A lot of folks don’t like the way things are going at Kentucky but can’t knock the man for taking advantage of the opportunities at hand. If Calipari didn’t utilize the one-and-done rule to his advantage, other coaches would.

A lot of fanbases hate Kentucky because of that very reason. Even De’Aaron Fox thinks so.

“Coach Calipari is obviously cheating” or “How much is Cal paying these guys” are always the go-to responses. My favorite is “Coach Cal is ruining college basketball”.

No, college basketball has changed. The NBA is running the show now. And until that changes, don’t expect for Kentucky Basketball to slow it down anytime soon. Might as well hop on the wagon.
