Kentucky Football’s offensive coordinator, Eddie Gran isn’t please with his offensive unit and let’s the world know about it.
Eddie Gran is a fiery individual who knows how to get the best out of his team. After Saturday’s scrimmage, the Kentucky Football offensive coordinator let everyone know that his team isn’t where it needs to be.
Gran’s press conference after the practice revealed his expectations for this team. Derek Terry of CatsIllustrated.com was there to transcribe the message.
"“I told them that I was very disappointed and that they were awful. They practiced for an hour and a half unbelievably. They competed, they got after them for one our and 30 minutes, but the last 20, they decided not to compete and they got their tail whipped.”"
It seems as though Gran has high expectations of his offensive unit. It goes to show the commitment that the second year offensive coordinator has toward this Kentucky team.
SEC Defenses Don’t Hold Back
Kentucky boasted one of the better run games in the country last season with the Benny and Boom show. The dynamic duo racked up more than 1,000 rushing yards respectively.
The production on the ground was exquisite in 2016 but if the Cats want to play with the Big Boys in the SEC, good is not good enough. Gran’s harsh critique of his offense today should give fans hope that whoever is playing quarterback, the expectation is high.
Eddie Gran doesn’t hold back:
"“I think they’re drinking some Kool-Aid and it’s bad Kool-Aid and I’ve got to get them to quit drinking. We’ll get that fixed. It was an absolute joke.”"
Gran holds his quarterbacks accountable as well. When asked how the quarterbacks played in the last 20 minutes of practice Eddie Gran showed no love:
"“Not very good. There was nobody good. There was nobody good.”"
Time to Drink New Kool-Aid
In reference to Michael Jordan’s “secret stuff” Gran told the media on Saturday that his offense was drinking the wrong Kool-Aid. Needless to say, Gran holds Kentucky to a higher standard than Offensice Coordinators in the past. But, that’s a good thing. Kentucky doesn’t need someone to sugar coat anything when it comes to performance. Mark Stoops and company have worked to bring Kentucky Football up to SEC standards. With the addition of Eddie Gran, an SEC offense just might be born in Lexington.

One thing is for certain, the players know he means business. With that said, the offensive unit should rally the troops in wake of what needs to be another improvement in the win column for 2017.
