Kentucky Basketball has many things going on in their favor. John Calipari has the program contenting for national titles each season. Also, the program itself has a history of winning. This includes the highest win total in all of college basketball. Kentucky Basketball also boasts eight national titles which currently sits at second all-time behind UCLA’s 11.
A new stat was released by the Wall Street Journal about the value of college basketball teams. It may come as a surprise to know that Kentucky tops the list as the most valued program at a staggering $342.6 million.
Kevin Kaduk of Yahoo! Sports’ “The Dagger” says that Kentucky can even add to their dollar value after it’s birth in the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight.
Kentucky Basketball is one of the top programs in the country in terms of talent and revenue. The amount of money fans pay to watch their beloved Wildcats play is unreal. In addition to ticket sales, Kentucky benefits from a hefty television marketing contract. Also, there are plenty of folks out there that would be shelling out buckets of money to head to Phoenix to watch their Cats play in the Final Four, had it not been for Luke Maye.
Beating Louisville is always good
The study, performed by Ryan Brewer, an assistant professor of finance at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus, list the Wildcats above one of the Louisville Cardinals. The Cards come in at second on his list of most valuable programs. Louisville’s estimated value lies at a cool $320 Million. Indiana, Duke and Kansas are not far behind in the hunt for the top spot.

The net worth of College Basketball teams is quite eye opening. It doesn’t come as a surprise that Kentucky finds its name on the top of this list considering the direction the program has take since Coach John Calipari took the reigns.
