Will LaGerald Vick get a Kentucky Wildcats offer?

More from Kentucky basketball recruiting

As of now, there is still no official offer on the table for LaGerald Vick, the four-star shooting guard from Memphis.  Vick made news earlier this week when he de-committed from SMU and he has quickly become the main recruiting piece for several teams as they scramble to fill their 2015 classes.  Kansas was quick to offer Vick, but Kentucky still has not.  That has not stopped the folks at 247 Sports where their Crystal Ball voters have already decided that LaGerald Vick will go to Kentucky.

It’s far from a done deal and he still technically needs that offer, but LaGerald Vick is a player that can help the Kentucky Wildcats.  It is interesting that John Caliipari has not offered yet when a coach like Bill Self jumps in with the quick offer.  Part of that may be due to the fact that technically, Vick is still a member of the 2016 class and would need to reclassify. When he committed to SMU, he was a 2015 recruit, but was going to attend prep school for a year and play in 2016.

Whether Vick reclassifies or not is up in the air, but it appears that some of the reasons he was going to attend prep school may have resolved itself.

"Now those plans might have changed. Vick is also reportedly receiving interest from Kentucky, and any academic concerns that played a role in his his prep school plans may have subsided.Eric Bossi, Rivals’ national recruiting analyst, has described Vick as a “natural scorer” and “long athlete” who will need to add strength and refine his skill-set at the next level. Vick, a native of Memphis, is currently listed at 175 pounds."

Kansas State is expected to go in on Vick soon as well.  There are rumors that Vick will be making a visit this weekend to one of the schools recruiting him and the likely ones are Kansas, Kentucky, and Kansas State.  As of this writing, nothing has been confirmed.  If an offer comes for Vick, we should probably hear the next few days.  Here is a bit of what Vick brings to the table from ESPN and a mix tape.

"Strengths:Vick is a long, athletic and quick wing that has a great knock to score and he can do it in a variety of ways. He can hit the open three, slash, get his own shot and is an above the rim finisher as well. Vick is productive and loaded with potential.Weaknesses:Vick will need to add strength continue to develop his already pretty good ball skills and be more productive on the glass. Vick will have to work on becoming a better defensively both on and away from the ball and work to be consistent game in and game out.Bottom Line:Vick is a versatile scorer that has a great knack to put the ball in the basket. His length and athletism make him a major college wing with excellent upside."
