Oh please, let it be true.

I know some of you out there claim to really like the new Kentucky Wildcat logo. I don't think I have ever actually spoken to any of you, and I question if you really exist, but surely someone does.

So, Saturday, when Will Stein recently popped up rocking one of the most iconic vintage logos, everyone immediately started wondering is this the official return of the Power K?

Could we finally see one of the best Kentucky logo's make a comeback?

Back in 2016, the University and Nike got together in a boardroom and decided to mess with absolute perfection. There was absolutely no reason to change the Wildcat, but they did it anyway. It was a disaster from the start, and it is quite embarrassing when you flip the current logo horizontally (you can click here if you want to see why).

So, just about anything would be better. But the first-year head coach showed up to his Saturday press conference with the old Power K logo from the 70s to the 90s sitting right there on his chest.

That would be a massive comeback. I know for a fact that fans would spend an absurd amount of money to get their hands on official gear with that logo on it. Just look at the immediate reaction from the fanbase:

You heard the man, get the Power K back.

Nike messed with absolute perfection

The frustration with the current logo runs deep. When you have a brand as iconic and globally recognized as Kentucky, there is no need to come out with a crazy rebranding. It was working.

The Power K is a masterclass in clean, immediately recognizable sports branding. Everyone in the fanbase over 25 will know what it is.

When Nike forced the 2016 rebrand, it felt completely corporate and sterile. It's like looking at what McDonald's used to be and what it has become aesthetically. It's just not fun.

Fans immediately pointed out the bizarre hidden shapes within the jagged edges, and the rollout was widely mocked across the college football landscape. To make matters worse we basically took the UH from Houston and bent the sides.

My 6 year old asked me during the tournament why Houston stole our logo. I had to explain it to her. But she's right.

A license to print money in Lexington

If Mitch Barnhart and the athletic department are genuinely looking for a way to generate a massive surge in merchandise revenue, returning to the Power K is a literal license to print money.

Nostalgia is the most profitable commodity in modern sports right now. Programs across the country are abandoning modern, over-designed uniforms and returning to the classic looks of the 90s.

If Will Stein runs his team out of the tunnel at Kroger Field this fall wearing Power K helmets, the stadium will absolutely erupt.

Make it happen.
