Will Stein hilariously explains the Lamar Jackson Heisman sitting in UK's facility

We finally know why it happened.

It was one of the weirdest viral moments of the offseason, and a lot of people are still talking about it.

When elite top-five quarterback recruit Jake Nawrot was on a recruiting trip to Lexington, a photo of him snapped inside the facility started making the rounds on social media. The problem? Nawrot was posing directly in front of a Heisman trophy signed by legendary Louisville Cardinals quarterback Lamar Jackson.

The internet immediately erupted with questions. Why on earth was a Louisville Heisman sitting inside the Joe Craft Football Training Facility? Why did UK have it? And why was Mark Stoops' successor letting a massive 5-star quarterback recruit stand in front of it for a photo op?

Well, head coach Will Stein finally cleared the air, and it is great news for BBN.

Will Stein sets the record straight

During a recent appearance on ESPN Louisville, Stein was asked directly about the trophy. True to form, the former Louisville quarterback turned Kentucky head coach decided to have a little fun with the media before dropping the truth.

"I can't believe you all don't remember that I signed Lamar, I coached Lamar, I was literally on the sidelines when he won the Heisman, I was at the ceremony. Y'all didn't know that?" Stein joked on the radio.

After a beat, the head coach completely broke character.

"(Expletive) no, I wasn't there," Stein busted out laughing. "I played with Teddy [Bridgewater], I was there when Lamar signed, I went to Texas with coach (Charlie) Strong after that. Not one person in this building is claiming they coached Lamar Jackson, besides Joe Miday, who coached Lamar Jackson, who was his strength coach there. And Lamar got two replicas, and guess who he gave one to? Joe Miday."

That is an awesome story. You have a strength coach who helped a QB win a Heisman, coupled with a head coach who has

A massive flex for the Kentucky strength program

Mystery solved. The trophy belongs to Kentucky's head strength and conditioning coach, Joe Miday.

"So, I mean you're crazy if you don't think that's something cool," Stein added. "It's funny."

Stein is absolutely right; it is incredibly cool. While seeing a Louisville helmet or a Lamar Jackson signature inside the Kentucky facility might initially make fans do a double-take, having that signed Heisman replica is actually a massive recruiting weapon.

If a generational talent and unanimous NFL MVP like Lamar Jackson believed in Joe Miday enough to literally gift him a replica of the most prestigious award in sports, it shows that Miday is elite at what he does. When a 5-star recruit like Jake Nawrot walks into the weight room, that trophy is undeniable proof that Kentucky's strength staff knows exactly how to build a superstar.

And at the end of the day, that kind of proof can only benefit Kentucky.
