Vince Marrow tries to troll Kentucky’s staff, ends up humiliating himself instead

This one is too good not to see.

Vince Marrow is never shy when it comes to popping on X and popping off about his successes. Just look through his feed, and you'll find plenty of self-high-fives (and plenty of typos).

The former Kentucky associate head coach switched sides to the Cardinals last offseason. The Cards got the last laugh on the field, engineering a 41-0 win in what turned out to be Mark Stoops' last game as coach in Lexington. Since then, Marrow has grabbed five former Kentucky players in the portal and hasn't been shy about bragging about it.

But when Kentucky Assistant GM Pete Nochta flipped the script on Monday, Marrow took the bait and committed a massive "self-own."

Assistant GM Pete Nochta trolls Marrow; Vince takes the bait

To understand the roast, you have to back up a little.

Before coming to Kentucky, Pete Nochta was a staple on the Louisville staff. He served as the director of high school relations in 2018 and the director of on-campus recruiting for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He remained their recruiting director until switching sides to Kentucky when Will Stein was hired.

Conversely, Vince Marrow spent that same decade as the recruiting coordinator in Lexington, bringing players to the SEC. He bragged about "owning Ohio" and the state of Kentucky then, and he still does now.

So, when Kentucky signed Ohio State transfer Tegra Tshabola on Monday, Nochta found an old tweet from Marrow's time at Kentucky, bragging about his Ohio dominance, and reposted it to celebrate the win.

Vince saw that KSR's Matt Jones had posted it, and he didn't take it lightly.

When Jones tried to keep things friendly Marrow said, "lol i love it but facts are facts."

Vince Marrow becomes the "self-own" king

Here is where Marrow lost the plot.

If he had stopped to think, he would have realized he was clowning the school he now works for. By claiming he has been "beating the crap out of [Nochta] for 10 years," Marrow is reminding Louisville fans that Kentucky beat Louisville in recruiting and on the field for a decade.

You can't make this up. He is essentially bragging to his current fanbase about how badly he used to beat them, while at their rival.

Louisville has won the last two Governor's Cups, and Marrow was part of one of those. However, his strategy seems to be taking the players who were on the roster that lost those games and bringing them to Louisville. Meanwhile, Kentucky has hired a great young offensive mind in Will Stein, assembled a monster staff, and secured one of the best portal hauls in the country.

Maybe Marrow should be doing more recruiting and less tweeting.
