There has not been a lot of noise regarding player movement beyond Jaland Lowe's decision to enter the Transfer Portal.
Honestly, the silence shouldn't surprise you too much because the portal doesn't officially open for another four days. However, there are already over 500 players sitting in the portal nationwide from programs whose seasons ended early. And you would think some of Mark Pope's end-of-season player meetings from last week would have yielded some public announcements by now.
Instead, BBN is sweating it out. Let's take a look at the latest intel and who has said what since our last roster update.
Kam Williams is looking for role clarity
The most direct quote we have right now comes from the camp of Kam Williams.
“Kam is just waiting to see what his role is going to be,” his father, Greg Williams Sr., recently told KSR. “Once you’re on the team, you never know exactly what direction they’re going the following year.”
In other words, if Kentucky aggressively recruits the portal to replace his minutes, he will leave. But he would ultimately prefer to stay in Lexington. That is an incredibly understandable and completely fair position for a player to take. The ball is effectively in Mark Pope's court on this one.
Lean- stay.
The massive Collin Chandler decision
This is the domino everyone is waiting to fall. Collin Chandler has been back home in Utah, catching some AAU basketball, but there has been little to no actual movement on his ultimate decision.
Right now, it feels like a true 60-40 stay-or-leave scenario. Getting Chandler back would be one of the absolute biggest offseason moves for Mark Pope. Keeping an elite, system-fluent talent in the building to anchor the offense is something you always want to do. Until he makes it official, fans will be refreshing their feeds constantly.
Lean- stay.
Cryptic social media posts and radio silence
Elsewhere on the roster, we are strictly reading the tea leaves.
Mo Dioubate, who we already established is a must-keep glue guy for this roster, recently put up an Instagram post featuring a blue heart and a signature emoji, paired with the caption "Surreal Season." It certainly feels like a positive indicator that he plans to return to Lexington, but there is no real way to know for sure with such a cryptic post.
Stay.
Meanwhile, Andrija Jelavic has maintained all along that he would love to be back, so there is no reason to believe anything has changed on his end. He seems locked in.
Stay.
As for the rest of the core? Complete radio silence. Malachi Moreno has been seen scrolling on TikTok, but there has been absolutely zero real movement or intel regarding his recruitment. We have also heard absolutely nothing further from Jasper Johnson, Trent Noah, or Brandon Garrison.
Those decisions remain 50-50 at this time.
With the April 7 portal opening barreling toward us, expect this silence to break very, very soon.
