The SEC regular season is entering its final stretch, and while Auburn continues to set the standard, the rest of the conference is a chaotic mix of contenders, pretenders, and teams desperately trying to find their footing. With the NCAA Tournament looming, every win and loss carries extra weight. Here’s where things stand.

Auburn Stays in Control

Auburn remains the SEC’s top dog, boasting an 11-1 conference record and an impressive 23-2 overall mark. With a near-perfect home record and strong performances on the road, the Tigers have looked like the most complete team in the league.

The Chase Pack: Alabama, Florida, and Texas A&M

Behind Auburn, the battle for positioning is fierce. Alabama could not upend the Tigers in Tuscaloosa, but still are right there near the top. Florida has quietly put together one of the best overall records in the country at 22-3, while Texas A&M continues to surge, riding a five-game winning streak. These three teams are positioning themselves for high NCAA Tournament seeds, but who will emerge as Auburn’s biggest threat?

Missouri, Tennessee, and Ole Miss Stay in the Fight

Missouri (8-4), Tennessee (8-5), and Ole Miss (8-5) are all within striking distance, but each has had its share of ups and downs. Missouri boasts one of the best home records in the league but has struggled away from Columbia. Tennessee has picked up key wins but has been inconsistent in conference play. Ole Miss has been competitive but suffered a tough loss that set them back.

Kentucky and Mississippi State: Stuck in the Middle

At 6-6 in the SEC, Kentucky and Mississippi State have flashed potential but remain frustratingly inconsistent. Kentucky’s season has been a rollercoaster, with impressive wins over top teams but baffling losses due to turnovers, poor rebounding, and cold shooting stretches. Mississippi State has been a tough out for opponents but hasn’t been able to put together a winning streak to separate themselves.

The Lower Half: Teams Struggling for Consistency

Vanderbilt, Texas, and Arkansas have had their moments but sit below .500 in SEC play. Texas picked up a much-needed win, but it may be too little, too late. Arkansas has the talent but has yet to string together enough wins to be a real threat. Georgia and Oklahoma are slipping further out of tournament contention, while LSU and South Carolina are in full-on freefall. South Carolina, still winless in SEC play, has dropped 12 straight games.

With just a few weeks left in the regular season, teams must find consistency to position themselves for a strong postseason run. Auburn appears to be in control, but the battle for seeding in the SEC Tournament—and potential NCAA bids—is far from over. The final stretch of games will determine who rises and who falls.
