Kentucky's Trent Noah limps off late vs. Texas A&M with apparent ankle injury

The Aggies rolled the Cats as Noah rolled his ankle.

If you needed any more bad news coming off the disastrous performance against Texas A&M, the injury bug just took another bite out of the Wildcats' rotation.

Sophomore guard Trent Noah had been a lone bright spot in the comeback attempt, checking in to knock down a pair of much-needed three-pointers late in the game. But as Kentucky was desperately trying to close the gap late in the game, disaster struck. While backpedaling after taking a 3, which he missed, Noah accidentally stepped on Mark Pope’s foot on the sideline and rolled his ankle.

Ending the slump

The timing couldn't be worse for the Harlan native. Noah had gone the entire month of February without making a field goal, but he looked to be turning a corner in College Station. In just 12 minutes of action, he was 2-for-5 from deep, finishing with 9 points and 3 rebounds.

When his shot is falling, Noah is one of the most versatile weapons Mark Pope has off the bench. He provides the floor spacing and rebounding that this team desperately needs, especially as Pope continues to voice concerns about his starters playing "too many minutes."

Status Unknown

Noah was able to get up under his own power, but he was clearly limping and gingerly trying to walk the injury off on the sideline as the final buzzer sounded. This isn't Noah's first brush with an ankle issue this season, having dealt with a similar injury after rolling his ankle in the early non-conference schedule.

There are currently no official updates from the training staff, but a lingering ankle sprain for Noah is the last thing a short-handed Kentucky roster needs with the regular-season finale against Florida looming on Saturday and March Madness just weeks away.

We will continue to monitor the situation and bring you the latest updates as they become available.
