Kentucky fans love nothing more than watching homegrown talent rise to the occasion, and that’s exactly what happened as Trent Noah and Travis Perry helped lead the Wildcats to a 75-64 win over Tennessee. In a game that featured plenty of big moments, the two Kentucky natives delivered when it mattered most, helping the Cats complete a season sweep of the Volunteers.

Noah and Perry Deliver in the Clutch

Harlan County’s own Trent Noah put together his best performances of the season, scoring 11 points on 3-of-4 shooting from deep and 2 late game free throws. His three-point shooting was crucial, as Kentucky hit 12-of-24 from beyond the arc to bury Tennessee’s hopes. Every time the Vols made a push, Kentucky and Noah seemed to have an answer.

Meanwhile, Travis Perry, Kentucky’s all-time high school scoring leader from Lyon County, made the most of his minutes. He dropped eight points in just 12 minutes, shooting 3-of-4 from the field and drilling two clutch three-pointers. His confidence and poise were on full display, proving that he belongs on the big stage too.

A Game Won on the Perimeter

Kentucky’s shooting was the difference in this one. The Wildcats knocked down 50% of their three-pointers (12-of-24), compared to just 3-of-18 (16.7%) for Tennessee. The Vols dominated the paint with 34 points inside to Kentucky’s 28, but that wasn’t enough to overcome their brutal night from deep.

Otega Oweh added 13 points and six rebounds for the Cats, while Koby Brea chipped in 11 points, including a massive step-back three in crunch time. Amari Williams also played a big role, finishing with six points and three blocks while anchoring Kentucky’s defense.

Looking Ahead

With this win, Kentucky builds momentum heading into the final stretch of the season. The biggest question now is the status of Lamont Butler, who left the game with an injury in the second half. His leadership and defensive presence are invaluable, so the Wildcats will be hoping for good news on that front.

But for now, the story of the night is the Kentucky kids stepping up in a big way. Noah and Perry didn’t just play—they delivered, giving Big Blue Nation a glimpse of a bright future.
