ZaKiyah Johnson, one of the top female basketball players in the country and the very best in the state of Kentucky, is set to make her final commitment on November 3. She is one of head coach Kenny Brooks and Kentucky women's basketball's top recruits. She visited Kentucky over the weekend of September 20.

Johnson has offers from programs all over the country and trimmed her list to 12 schools last year: Arizona, Georgia, Louisville, LSU, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCLA, UCONN, and USC. She has since made her list down to only three schools: LSU, Kentucky, and Louisville.

There is much-anticipated excitement around the women's basketball program. Kenny Brooks without even coaching one game, has turned the anticpation and energy of the program around. For the first time in program history, Kentucky women's basketball sold out their reserved seating. There are still general tickets and some other season ticket packages up for grabs, but this is huge news for the program.

That's not the only thing exciting that's happening for the ladies in blue and white. Coaches voted Star player Georgia Amore into the Preseason All-SEC First Team. The other SEC coaches expect her to be a star in the conference.

Therefore, adding ZaKiyah Johnson as Kenny Brooks' first 2025 recruit for the Kentucky women's basketball team would be huge. Hopefully, it would be the first domino to fall in that class, as Brooks has his target set on other big recruits, too. If Johnson commits, it could lead to a few other big recruits choosing to come to Lexington, too.

It won't be easy. Some believe that she may end up picking LSU or Louisville and that Kentucky is on the outside looking in. However, her visit to Lexington in September really helped the Wildcats pick up steam in her recruitment. Can Kenny Brooks get her to commit this week? That's the big question.
