Bowl season is incredible at times, and the game today, on the day after Christmas, was a prime example of how much fun it can be. It was a classic random bowl that pulled off the fireworks, a Toledo vs. Pitt game that featured six overtimes. Toledo was about to outlast Pitt and pull off the win in an instant classic.

If you are wondering why this matters for a Kentucky site, it's that the Wildcats face off against Toldeo in the first game of the 2025 season. On August 30th of the 2025 season, Kentucky will start the season at home against this team, and fans are starting to wonder if they can even win that game.

A Jaded Fan Reaction

The reality is this may be a jaded fan reaction to a bad season from the Wildcats. 2024 was a complete bust, going 4-8, missing a bowl game, and only winning one SEC game. Therefore, some of the reaction may be from the utter disappointment of 2024, but Toledo just beat Pitt, so it may be a legitimate worry.

The Return of Chip Trayanum

Do you know what else happened recently? Former Kentucky Wildcats running back Chip Trayanum transferred to Toledo. He came to the Wildcats as a highly heralded Ohio State transfer but was injured basically the whole year, only getting 19 carries in between all his injuries. He is now going to get a new start at Toledo. He will be looking to do damage against his old team; that chip on the shoulder should be sizable.

Toledo is now the champion of a bowl game; Kentucky couldn't even get into a bowl, much less a random one like Toledo did with the GameAbove Sports Bowl. It will now be listed as a tougher season opener than I think the Wildcats can afford.
