The Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball team dropped their first SEC game of the campaign down in Texas, suffering a 61-55 road loss to Texas A&M. Despite a strong showing from forward Teonni Key, who led the team with 20 points and nine rebounds, the Lady Cats couldn’t overcome poor shooting and a fourth-quarter surge by the Aggies.
Kenny Brooks on Teonni Key: "After the game was over, I talked to the team, and I praised her. I was pleased with her performance. We can't just rely on one person."

She scored a career-high 20 points on 8-16 shooting, grabbing nine rebounds along the way.
A Tough Night for the Kentucky Women's basketball
Kentucky (16-2, 5-1 SEC) struggled to find their rhythm offensively, shooting just 31.3% from the field and a dismal 1-for-18 (5.6%) from three-point range. Guard Georgia Amoore added 15 points and five assists but went 0-for-8 from beyond the arc. The Lady Cats held a three-point lead entering the fourth quarter but were outscored 19-9 in the final frame.
Texas A&M (10-8, 3-3 SEC) was powered by Aicha Coulibaly, who tallied 21 points and seven rebounds. The Aggies capitalized on Kentucky’s offensive struggles, finishing with a more efficient 42.9% shooting from the field and 33.3% from three-point range.
Key Moments
Kenny Brooks: "We had opportunities that we liked, and when they didn't fall, I felt like we second-guessed ourselves. This is a learning opportunity for us. We didn't handle their physicality like we wanted to, like we needed to."

The Wildcats’ inability to convert open looks proved costly. After leading by as many as six points in the third quarter, Kentucky’s offense went cold in the final minutes, allowing the Aggies to close the game on a 10-2 run. A late turnover sealed the deal for Texas A&M, sending the Lady Cats home with a frustrating loss. Clara Strack, Georgia Amoore, and Dazia Lawrence were a combined 10 of 37, just not winning shooting like that.
A Missed Opportunity
This loss to a Texas A&M team that came in with a losing record in the SEC and just 9-8 overall is a tough pill to swallow for Kentucky. The Lady Cats will need to regroup quickly to avoid falling further behind in the competitive SEC race.
