Former Kentucky Wildcat Ray Davis shines in his first start in the NFL. He was able to get the start because James Cook suffered a toe injury and couldn't get back to full health in time. This left the door open for Davis to show why the Bills drafted him. He did not disappoint.

Davis exploded onto the scene, compiling the most yards from scrimmage (152) from a rookie all season long. He was electric, with 97 yards on the ground and 55 yards through the air. He stole the show and became an overnight sensation in the NFL.

He put on such an impressive display that Scott Van Pelt asked him to be his guest in the post-game segment. If you missed that, here it is:

The Bills mafia wasn't sure what to expect from him when Buffalo drafted him out of Kentucky last year, but they were blown away by his performance tonight. Many joked that James Cook was stressing about losing his job or even joking about his aggressive running style.

At the end of the game, the Bills Mafia was ready to declare Davis the game MVP and one of the primary reasons they beat the Jets on Monday Night Football.

On Davis' first handoff, he took it for 14 yards. In a game in which the Bills seemed to have a plan to rotate Ty Johnson in with Davis, they never looked back after that run. He then went for 6 yards, 5 yards, 15 yards, and 5 yards. He single-handedly marched them to the goal line, and Josh Allen did a quarterback draw to punch it in for the touchdown.

Davis continued to shine, and for that matter, so did Josh Allen. They hooked up for a highlight reel play early in the game that was both an impressive throw and an incredible catch. Here is that highlight:

In each of the post-game press conferences, Allen's and Davis's, they each credited the other. Davis said about the above play, "When you got a quarterback like Josh, things can happen. You got to stay on the run." Allen said this about Davis, "That's why we drafted him."

Davis was all smiles and full of celebration after his breakthrough performance. He not only got to be the guest with Van Pelt, but he ran off the field with his cowboy hat on, jumping and celebrating. As the NFL X account said below, "What a night for Ray Davis!"
