Kentucky needs six wins to be considered for a bowl. For many of you, you've already given up on that hope, and I get it; it feels impossible. It's next to impossible in many ways, but there is a path to get there over the final 5 games. Here's how they can do it:

Currently, Kentucky has three wins; they need three more. So how do they get there? First, you have to assume that Murray State is a win. The Racers are historically bad, even for a program that isn't often good. They are 1-7 on the season. Their only win came against Mississippi State Valley, which is an FCS program (and not a good one).

That gets the Wildcats to four wins. They need two more among a four-game Tennessee, Texas, and Louisville slate. Yikes. Let's start with the lowest common denominator, Louisville. As bad as Kentucky has been over the last four games, I still think they beat Louisville. I actually think any SEC team can beat and would beat the Cardinals. Stoops has won the last five games against Louisville. It was 2017 when the Cardinals had the last win.

If we are going to get a bowl game, it may come down to that final game of the season. However, it could also already be impossible by then. If Kentucky loses to both Tennessee and Texas, which is playing the odds, the Louisville game only matters for Ls down.

However, we are working on a path to a bowl game. So we have to say Murray State and Louisville are wins. That puts Kentucky at 5 wins, and then they have to get one against Tennessee or Texas. Neither of them feel super possible, but neither did Ole Miss. I'm putting on my most optimistic hat and saying, imagine if they pull off one of those upsets? That's how they get there. It's the impossible path to a bowl game, but that's the name of the article.
