Stats and social media reactions to the Wildcats beating Louisville for the first time since 2015
Kentucky Wildcats edged out Louisville in a thrilling matchup, relying on efficient shooting (46.6% FG) and dominant rebounding (+12 margin) to secure the victory. Though turnovers (24) were a huge concern, their defense and second-chance points tipped the scales in favor of the Lady Cats. A big bright spot for the Cardinals was the play of Freshman Imari Berry who was 4-5 from downtown.
A raucous crowd was loud all night long in Memorial Coliseum and was sent home happy as Kentucky beat Louisville 71-61 in OT for the first time in 8 years. Kenny Brooks has a lot to be proud of, and a lot to work on if this team is going to be a Final Four threat.
Three Stars of the Night:
1. Teonni Key
Teonni Key was massive all game long. Even when she got in foul trouble, she was a great rim protector. Key finished with 5 blocks, but even more impressive was her near double-double 17 points and 9 rebounds. One area you need to see cleaned up is the turnovers, she had 7 of them. Otherwise, tremendous night.
2. Georgia Amoore
Similar to Key, Amoore struggled with turnovers all game long as Louisville blitzed the point guard any chance they got. She finished with a game high 8 turnovers. Much like Key, she was stellar otherwise, finishing with 19 points, 9 assists.
3. Amelia Hassett
Relentless on the glass and clutch at the line and down low late in the game Hassett finished with 9 points and 13 boards. She finished the game 5 for 6 from the line and 2 for 4 from the floor.
