Will Levis to miss 2025 season after shoulder surgery
The comeback tour for Will Levis has been put on ice.
The former Kentucky star quarterback will miss the entire 2025 NFL season after opting for season-ending surgery to repair a nagging AC joint injury in his throwing shoulder, per ESPN. The procedure is set for July 29, effectively sidelining him from Titans training camp, which opens this week.
The injury dates back to a Week 4 scramble against the Miami Dolphins, when Levis dove for a first down and landed awkwardly on his shoulder. He battled through the pain for most of the season but struggled with consistency and turnovers before being benched for Mason Rudolph.
Levis' 2024 stats reflect the rocky year he had:
- 2,091 yards (27th NFL)
- 13 touchdowns (T-26th)
- 12 interceptions (T-99th)
- A QBR of 27.8 (32nd, last among qualified quarterbacks)
In two seasons, the former second-round pick has thrown for 3,899 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. But with Tennessee earning the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 draft and selecting Washington State turned Incarnate Word then Miami (FL) star Cameron Ward, the writing was already on the wall.

Levis addressed the decision privately, while the Titans issued a supportive statement: “We support his decision to focus on his long-term health… He approached the offseason with professionalism and showed clear growth as a leader.”
Still, it’s a brutal setback for a quarterback who entered the NFL with high expectations. Just two years ago, Levis was projected as a first-round pick and potential franchise QB. Now, with a new face of the franchise in town and his own future in flux, he’s fighting just to stay in the league.
The surgery should allow him to fully heal, but the road back — in Tennessee or elsewhere — just got a lot steeper.
For Big Blue Nation, Levis remains a fan favorite, but his NFL journey is officially on pause. For Cam Ward, this injury clears the way for the Cameron Ward Era to begin in Nashville.
