SEC Power Rankings after Week 9: Only one team worse than Kentucky
By Mark Knight

The Georgia Bulldogs look like the best team in the conference. They had a little blip against Alabama earlier in the season but have only shown dominance since then. They even won despite Carson Beck throwing three interceptions. They are the SEC team to beat.
Last week rank: 2
This week was a much-needed bye for the Texas Longhorns, and it gave them a week to heal and get ready. They get to take on the Florida Gators this week. After watching how Georgia beat them, they should be ready.
Last week rank: 4
The Volunteers are good, and it's not easy to see that the Wildcats are bad. There was an opportunity for the Wildcats, as Kentucky came out more ready and aggressive than Tennessee. The Volunteers may have been looking past the Wildcats, but they were able to come away with the win.

The Rebels absolutely pounded the Razorbacks; from start to finish, it wasn't even close. After that showing, I'd like to move them up more than one position, but I don't think they are better than the three teams above them.

You could see this loss coming from a mile away. The Aggies came off an emotional win over LSU last week while South Carolina was on a bye. The Gamecocks were able to spend a week readying themselves to beat the Aggies, while Texas A&M had no extra time to prepare. It's how events play out at times. Texas A&M gets its bye this week and can begin preparing for its final three games.

The Tigers sat out this week, readying themselves for the final four-game push against Alabama, Florida, Vanderbilt, and Oklahoma.
Last week rank: 7
Vanderbilt is no longer in the basement of the SEC. This may truly be one of their best seasons ever, and they continue to add wins. It'll be tough to finish strong as they have to take on South Carolina, LSU, and Tennessee, but this team is full of surprises.

They stayed in 8th as they spent the week on a bye. They take on LSU on Saturday, and that game could determine a lot in both the College Football Playoff and the SEC conference.

It was a big, big win over Texas A&M. However, I couldn't move them up more than one spot as they just haven't been able to prove they can win in this conference consistently. They are a rollercoaster, and I would love to move them up higher if they can do it again this week against Vanderbilt.
Last week rank: 11
It was a gutty performance from the Gators. They were down to their third-string quarterback and still battled with Georgia. They may have lost, but they moved up in my book.
Last week rank: 12
They get to move up because of the Razorbacks' fall. Missouri doesn't look great this season, but they had a bye week to get ready for an end-of-season schedule that ranks the easiest in the SEC: Oklahoma, South Carolina, Mississippi State, and Arkansas.
Last week rank: 9
The Razorbacks had zero answers for Ole Miss. It was ugly, and because of that, they fell pretty far in this week's power rankings.
Last week rank: 14
Beating a really bad non-conference opponent doesn't really deserve to move up a spot, but this bottom half of the SEC is a mess, and there's not much to like about Oklahoma, Auburn, Kentucky, or Mississippi State.
Last week rank: 13
This was a game that Hugh Freeze needed to win, and yet he didn't. The Tigers' recruiting does seem to be going well, and maybe the future is bright, but Auburn is about as low as it can go.
Last week rank: 15
This team looked a whole heck of a lot better this week than they had in the previous three games. However, a loss is a loss; there are no moral victories, and this team seems destined for a 4 or 5-win season. Yikes.
Last week rank: 16
Similar to Oklahoma, beating a bad non-conference opponent is not super impressive. The Bulldogs are still 0-5 in the SEC and don't seem to have a win left on their schedule.
