Another wild Saturday in the SEC has come and gone, and the landscape of the conference is starting to look very different. While Alabama continued its methodical march, Florida pulled off a stunning upset that sent shockwaves through the league. Tiers are forming, contenders are separating from pretenders, and for one blue-blooded program, the freefall has finally landed them at the very bottom.
Here’s a look back at last week's rankings, and how the league stacks up after a chaotic Week 6.
WBN SEC power rankings week 7
1. Alabama Crimson Tide (5-1)
(Previously: 1) ➖
No surprises here. The Tide followed up their monumental win over Georgia by handling business against a good Vanderbilt team, 30-14. They are the most complete team in the conference, playing with a renewed sense of dominance. The top spot is theirs to lose.
2. Texas A&M Aggies (5-0)
(Previously: 3) 🔼
The Aggies just keep getting stronger. In a game that was supposed to be a tough test, they dismantled Mississippi State 31-9. They are undefeated, battle-tested, and their defense looks impenetrable. A&M jumps an idle Ole Miss and has a real claim to being the second-best team in the SEC right now.
3. Ole Miss Rebels (5-0)
(Previously: 2) 🔽
The Rebels slide a spot during their bye week, but only because of Texas A&M’s impressive performance. Ole Miss is still undefeated and a legitimate playoff contender. Their resumé is fantastic, and they remain firmly in the top tier.
4. Georgia Bulldogs (4-1)
(Previously: 4) ➖
After last week’s stunning loss, Georgia needed a statement. They got one, dominating a spiraling Kentucky team 35-14. It was a no-nonsense, get-right performance that reminded everyone the Bulldogs are still loaded with talent. They’re not back on top, but they aren’t going away.
5. LSU Tigers (4-1)
(Previously: 5) ➖
LSU had the week off to lick its wounds after the tough loss in Oxford. They stay put for now, but with the middle of the conference in such chaos, they remain a dangerous team capable of beating anyone on any given Saturday.
6. Tennessee Volunteers (4-1)
(Previously: 6) ➖
The Vols also had a bye week, resting up after their overtime thriller last week. They hold their position as a solid, top-half SEC team with an offense that can light up the scoreboard.
7. Missouri Tigers (5-0)
(Previously: 7) ➖
Mizzou enjoyed a well-deserved bye week. They remain one of the conference’s few undefeated teams and have earned their spot in the Top 10. The quiet confidence brewing in Columbia is real.
8. Oklahoma Sooners (4-1)
(Previously: 9) 🔼
The Sooners took care of business in a big way, crushing Kent State 44-0. It was the kind of dominant, suffocating performance you expect from a top-tier team against an inferior opponent. They move up and continue to look SEC-ready.
9. Vanderbilt Commodores (5-1)
(Previously: 8) 🔽
The dream of an undefeated season is over, but Vandy lost no respect in their 30-14 loss at Alabama. They went into Tuscaloosa and competed. The Commodores are a well-coached, tough football team, and their 5-1 record is still one of the best stories in college football.
10. Florida Gators (2-4)
(Previously: 16) 🔼
THE JUMP OF THE WEEK. Left for dead at 1-4, the Gators pulled off the upset of the season, knocking off Texas 29-21. It was a massive, program-defining win that injects life back into a season that felt lost. Their record is still ugly, but a win like that earns a massive leap up the rankings.
11. South Carolina Gamecocks (3-2)
(Previously: 13) 🔼
The Gamecocks rise two spots on their bye week, thanks to the implosion of teams that were ranked ahead of them. Sometimes, not losing is as good as winning.
12. Auburn Tigers (3-2)
(Previously: 11) 🔽
Auburn also had the week off but slides a spot as Florida makes its dramatic climb. The Tigers' defensive identity is clear, but their offensive struggles remain a major concern.
13. Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-2)
(Previously: 10) 🔽
After a tough overtime loss to Tennessee, the Bulldogs got physically dominated by Texas A&M. Now on a two-game losing streak, Mississippi State is trending in the wrong direction and falling into the bottom tier of the conference.
14. Arkansas Razorbacks (2-3)
(Previously: 14) ➖
The Razorbacks were idle, which was probably for the best after the disastrous Notre Dame game. The program feels stuck in neutral, and it’s hard to see where the next win comes from. But we know it won't know who the coach is either.
15. Texas Longhorns (3-2)
(Previously: 12) 🔽
THE FALL OF THE WEEK. Losing to a 1-4 Florida team is simply a disaster. What was supposed to be a promising season is now on the brink of collapse. The Longhorns are not ready for the week-in, week-out grind of the SEC, and this loss proves it.
16. Kentucky Wildcats (2-3)
(Previously: 15) 🔽
Here we are. The freefall is complete. After getting humiliated by South Carolina, the Wildcats went to Athens and were thoroughly outclassed in a 35-14 loss to Georgia. The team looks lifeless, undisciplined, and completely lost. With no signs of life, Kentucky officially takes its place as the worst team in the SEC.
