The regular season is officially in the books, and Rivalry Week delivered chaos, clarity, and a coaching carousel that is already spinning out of control.
While Georgia solidified its spot at the top, the real news is in the middle of the pack. LSU has fired Brian Kelly, Lane Kiffin rumors are swirling, and Florida ended a nightmare season by dropping 40 points on their arch-rival.
Here is how the conference stacks up heading into championship weekend.
The SEC's top tier
1. Georgia (11-1): Survived a rock fight against Georgia Tech. The defense is elite, and they have the résumé to be No. 1.
2. Ole Miss (11-1): Lane Kiffin has his most complete team yet, but the distractions are massive. With rumors linking Kiffin to the LSU job, can the Rebels focus on the playoff?
3. Oklahoma (10-2): Beat LSU in a defensive slugfest. The Sooners rebounded from a very tough 1st year in the SEC.
4. Texas (9-3): Statement win over Texas A&M. Arch Manning was poised, and the defense was clutch.
The chaos tier
5. Alabama (10-2): Won the Iron Bowl, but it wasn't pretty.
6, Vanderbilt (10-2): The story of the year. Clark Lea and Diego Pavia beat Tennessee 45-24 to cap a legendary season.
7. Texas A&M (11-1): Finally stumbled. Turnovers killed them against Texas.
8, Missouri (8-4): Beat Arkansas without a passing game. Ahmad Hardy is a beast.
9. Tennessee (8-4): Losing to Vandy at home sends them to purgatory.
The we already changed our coach tier
10. LSU (7-5): After a mediocre 7-5 season and a loss to Oklahoma, the Tigers continue to chase their golden boy. Now, all eyes are on Lane Kiffin. The Bayou is burning, will Kiffin be able to put it out?
11, Florida (4-8): Billy Napier is already gone, but the Gators didn't quit in this one. They hung 40 points on Florida State in a rivalry blowout.
The bottom feeders
12. Mississippi State (5-7): Played hard, but the talent gap is real.
13. South Carolina (4-8): LaNorris Sellers' return did not go as expected and Shane Beamer has to answer an awful lot of tough questions.
14. Auburn (5-7): Changing coaches helped tremendously, it looks like they missed on Lane Kiffin and Jon Sumrall, but they had it tied late in the game against Bama. The talent is there for whoever becomes the coach.
15, Kentucky (5-7): Rock bottom. While Florida and LSU are making bold moves, Kentucky got shut out 41-0 by Louisville. The stagnation in Lexington is glaring compared to the aggression elsewhere. Only Bobby Petrino saves them from last place and it was close
16. Arkansas (2-10): Season over, not much else to say here.
Now we wait for the SEC title game to see who gets the automatic bid into the College Football Playoff, Georgia or Alabama. Micah 7:7.
