The worst insults are the ones you can't refute
It was brutal. It was blunt. And honestly—it wasn’t wrong.

Fifteen of our nation’s finest CFB programs and Kentucky.
Cannot wait.
That’s the tweet SEC Barstool dropped on X. 3.2K likes. And yes, it hurt. But after a 1–7 SEC record in 2024, with the lone win coming via a 4th-down miracle at Ole Miss, it’s hard to clap back.
Kentucky scored just 6 points against South Carolina. It scored 13 against Vanderbilt. It gave up 48 to Florida and 41 to Louisville. There were no moral victories, only missed opportunities and another long winter in Lexington.
Mark Stoops admitted as much after the season, saying there were plenty of people who wanted him gone. But he stayed. And now, entering year 13, he’s trying to rally a fanbase that’s heard this script before.
The good news? We’re only 28 days away from seeing if it’s real. Week 1 against Toledo isn’t just a tune-up—it’s a tone-setter. The Rockets opened as 9.5-point underdogs on FanDuel, and that line hasn’t moved. Closer than most fans are comfortable with.
Toledo is no pushover, but Kentucky can’t afford to mess around. The Wildcats need a convincing win. A statement. Something to prove the program isn’t sleepwalking toward another 4–8 flameout or worse.
The biggest issue is that with 50 new players, you never know what is going to happen. Will the offensive line gel in time? Will the players pick up the offense quick enough? Will the rebuilt defense have enough firepower to contain the SEC offenses? So many questions.
If the offense looks sharp and the defense flies around, fans might believe again. But if it’s another slog? Well, SEC Barstool will be ready—and so will everyone else.
