Kentucky takes a tumble in this project AP poll

The recent slate of college basketball games has led to significant shifts in team performances, which will likely influence the upcoming Associated Press (AP) Top 25 poll. Based on the results from Monday, January 27th, 2025 through today, here's a projected Top 25 ranking from the AP poll due out Monday around 1 PM EST.

  1. Auburn (20-1, 8-0 SEC) – Dominant win over No. 23 Ole Miss keeps them at the top.
  2. Duke (19-2, 11-0 ACC) – Convincing rivalry win over North Carolina solidifies No. 2 spot.
  3. Alabama (19-3, 8-1 SEC) – Strong 90-69 win over Georgia keeps them in the top tier.
  4. Purdue (17-5, 9-2 Big Ten) – Solid win over Indiana moves them up as others lose.
  5. Tennessee (18-4, 5-4 SEC) – Huge win over No. 5 Florida gives them a rankings boost.
  6. St. John’s (19-3, 10-1 Big East) – Close win over Providence and teams losing bumps up Pitino
  7. Florida (18-3, 5-3 SEC) – Loss to Tennessee drops them, but they remain in the top 10.
  8. Texas A&M (17-5, 6-3 SEC) – Win over South Carolina keeps them steady.
  9. Houston (17-4, 9-1 Big 12) – Narrow OT loss to Texas Tech pushes them down slightly.
  10. Marquette (18-4, 9-2 Big East) – Loss to No. 25 UConn drops them a few spots.
  11. Kansas (15-6, 6-4 Big 12) – Loss to Baylor hurts their ranking.
  12. Memphis (17-4, 7-1 AAC) – A win over Tulane helps them stay put.
  13. Oregon (16-5, 5-5 Pac-12) – Rising only because others lost later than they did
  14. Iowa State (15-6, 6-3 Big 12) – 2 straight losses has the Cyclones spinning out
  15. Missouri (17-4, 6-2 SEC) – Statement win over Mississippi State boosts their ranking.
  16. Wisconsin (17-5, 7-4 Big Ten) – Keeps pace with a win over Northwestern.
  17. Kentucky (15-6, 4-4 SEC) – Keeps sliding down the polls after being in the top 10 for weeks
  18. Illinois (14-7, 6-5 Big Ten) – Up and down week, and season for the Illini
  19. Texas Tech (17-4, 8-2 Big 12) – OT win over Houston gives them a boost.
  20. UConn (16-6, 8-3 Big East) – Big win over Marquette moves them up.
  21. Michigan (16-5, 8-2 Big Ten) – Hanging on after a shaky week.
  22. Maryland (14-8, 5-6 Big Ten) – Strong recent play gets them into the rankings.
  23. Louisville (16-6, 9-2 ACC) – Loss to Georgia Tech drops them a bit.
  24. Ole Miss (16-6, 5-4 SEC) – Loss to No. 1 Auburn drops them but keeps them ranked.
  25. Saint Mary’s (20-3, 10-0 WCC) – Strong play in the WCC earns them a spot.
