WATCH: Former Kentucky star Ray Davis scores his first NFL touchdown
By Mark Knight
We got to see one of our former players get his first NFL touchdown. If you didn't get to see it, below you can watch it from the official NFL X account. As the Buffalo Bills began to run away from the Jacksonville Jaguars in Monday night Football, more reps were given to backups. The change of pace for the Bills is Ray Davis, former Kentucky Wildcat star. In the 4th quarter, with a score of 47-10, Ray Davis pushed his way into the end zone for a three-yard touchdown.
Davis has had a role in all three games this year for the Bills but this was his first chance to cash it in for six. He has been the first running back off the bench for Buffalo whenever James Cook, the starter, needs a break or simply as a change of pace. On the season, before the start of this game, Davis had 12 carries for 42 yards and 2 receptions for 13 yards. In this game, where he scored his first touchdown, he had seven rushes for 22 yards and added 1 reception for 1 yard.
Davis was a star as a Wildcat and helped transform the Kentucky offense on the ground. He came to Kentucky as a transfer from Vanderbilt and appeared in 13 games for the Wildcats where he set the single-season touchdown record for a runningback at 21 total touchdowns. Davis totaled 1,129 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. He also was able to haul in 33 passes for 323 yards and seven touchdowns.
The future is bright for young Davis; he is in good hands in the Buffalo system. Davis will find plenty of time rushing behind a top offensive line so expect this to be the first of many touchdowns in his NFL career, and we look forward to seeing him continue to pile up the touchdowns.
