Wake Forest stretch forward Andrew Carr makes the call for Kentucky
By Alec Lasley
Kentucky and Mark Pope are making moves quickly as another transfer has announced their commiment to the Cats.
Following his official visit, Wake Forest forward Andrew Carr committed to Kentucky on Sunday.
“Excited to announce I am transferring to the University of Kentucky for my graduate season,” Carr wrote in a tweet. “I know what it means to wear Kentucky across my chest and couldn’t be more ready to get to work!! Go Cats."
Carr averaged 12.1 points 6.4 rebounds and shot 50.9 percent overall from the floor in two seasons at Wake Forest.
The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 13.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and shot 37.1 percent from three last year -- making him an intruging option as a stretch four.
While he attempted just 2.8 3s a game, he made at least one three in 22 games. His ability to stretch the floor and spread out the defense would be critical, especially with Amari Williams as a paint presence only.
Earlier this week, we detailed the busy recruiting weekend and pinpointed Carr as the ideal option to play alongside Williams.
Before Wake Forest, Carr spent two seasons at Delaware.
Carr joins Williams, Oklahoma transfer guard Otega Oweh and San Diego State guard Lamont Butler as the four transfers thus far.
Kentucky and Mark Pope now have a roster of six players, including incoming freshmen guards Travis Perry and Collin Chandler.
