Kentucky football lands a massive commitment out of the transfer portal. They land former Tennessee offensive lineman Gerald Mincey.

Mincey was a three-star offensive lineman in the class of 2020. He verbally committed to Kentucky back in 2019, but he flipped and signed with Florida in 2020. During the 2020 season, Mincey redshirted as a true freshman. Mincey appeared in ten games for the Gators in 2021. He entered the transfer portal after Dan Mullen got fired from Florida.

This is when he decided to transfer to Knoxville and join the Volunteers. During the 2022 season, Mincey was a major contributor at left tackle. He was part of an offensive line that was named a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award for the first time in Tennessee's history. He saw action on 457 offensive snaps and only allowed one sack during the season.

During the 2023 season, Mincey saw action in all games, including starts at right tackle. He saw action on 510 offensive snaps and only allowed two sacks. It is pretty good when your team can get a player who has only allowed three sacks over the last two seasons.

Mincey was going to be a likely starter for Tennessee next season, so that is a massive get for Kentucky. The Cats beat out Ole Miss for Mincey. Kiffin and Co. were viewed as a potential landing spot for Mincey, but Stoops was able to get a massive win in the transfer portal. Mincey is important for many reasons. The addition of Mincey helps deepen a position that needed serious help.
