HISTORY -- in a major, major way. Louisville and Kentucky basketball fans just shattered the TBT attendance record on Monday night ... by a wide margin.

The Ville and La Familia matched up in the TBT Elite Eight inside Freedom Hall and fans did not disappoint on either side of the fence.

7,202 was the previous attendance record, set last year in Wichita, but on Monday it was 13,506 inside of Freedom Hall.

Peyton Siva, Russ Smith, Montrezl Harrell, Chris Jones and David Johnson are the notable former Cardinals on The Ville.

"It will be a battle," Chris Jones told FOX Sports' John Fanta. "There might be a little blood here and there. We owe them now, but we’re here to play basketball for our brand and our fans."

La Familia is headlined by Eric Bledsoe, Willie Cauley-Stein, Nate Sestina and Kerem Kanter -- the brother of Enes Kanter. Andrew and Aaron Harrison, Kellan Grady, James Young and Daniel Orton round out the roster with Tyler Ulis as the head coach.

La Familia went on to win 70-61.

They will advance to the TBT semifinals, set in Philadelphia. Then, it's two games away from the $1 million winner-take-all prize.
