Projected Kentucky basketball starting lineup after Mark Pope lands Andrew Carr
By Josh Yourish
Mark Pope added another interesting piece on Sunday with the signing of Carr. As a senior at Wake Forest, he averaged 13.5 points a game and shot 52.6% from the floor, and 37.1% from three with 1.5 blocks, 1.5 assists, and 6.8 rebounds.
He’s capable as a spot-up shooter, but his most efficient offense comes from post-ups or as a pick-and-roll screener. On post-ups, he averages 1.09 points per possession slotting him in the 87th percentile. On pick-and-roll or pick-and-pop possessions, he averages 1.21 points which is 76th percentile.
Carr will be an efficient stretch forward, but it’s a surprise that Pope added another player who relies so heavily on post-up touches after securing Amari Williams earlier in the process. Carr brings more spacing and can slide down to the five when Williams is off the floor, which may be when most of his post-ups come.
