One of the best transfers and top three-point shooter in the country strongly considering Kentucky
By Alec Lasley
Things are starting to heat up for Mark Pope and Kentucky and with so many available roster spots, it's easy to see why.
Currently, Kentucky has just three players on the roster for next season -- only one with college experience.
But, help could be coming by way of the best shooter in the country. According to 247Sports national reporter Dushawn London, Dayton transfer guard Koby Brea is considering five schools -- including Kentucky.
He's a 6-foot-6 wing who averaged 11.1 points and 3.8 rebounds a game in 33 games — and just four starts this year. He shot 49.8 percent from three and made 3.0 3s per game.
Brea made 100 3s and made at least three 3s in 18 games.
He ranked in the 96th percentile, scoring 1.47 points per possession on spot up shots.
Brea has played four years at Dayton and shot 43.4 percent from three in his career.
The fit with Kentucky is ideal -- a larger role, true green light, a bigger stage. And, it would be Mark Pope's first big time win. Going head-to-head with North Carolina, UConn, Duke and Kansas and coming out with the most coveted shooter in the portal? That would be a significant step.
Kentucky makes sense and has made sense for quite some time. Not, it's time to see if Mark Pope and the rest of the coaching staff can seal the deal.
