It felt that it was only a matter of time before Kentucky football's offensive play-caller, Liam Coen, found a new position in the NFL. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reportedly decided to bring Coen in for their OC position. The move is already igniting the flames of anger within the Big Blue Nation, and maybe for a good cause.
The #Buccaneers are working on a deal to hire Liam Coen as their new offensive coordinator, sources tell me and @RapSheet. After bouncing between the #Rams and Kentucky the last six years, Coen likely heads to Tampa for a possible reunion with pending free agent Baker Mayfield. pic.twitter.com/ijwtJel2RE

The new opportunity could potentially link Coen up with quarterback Baker Mayfield. A quarterback that Coen has already worked with in the past. After his first stint with Kentucky back in 2021, Coen bolted for the bright lights of Los Angeles, where he had the chance to work with Mayfield. So it makes sense that Tampa Bay would bring in a familiar face for Mayfield, who has solidified himself as the starter.
However, now Wildcats head coach Mark Stoops will be starting over once again. The juggling act at offensive coordinator has been a thorn in the side of Stoops for the last half-decade. Getting this right is vital for the success of the team this fall. But with Coen's exit, will Kentucky also have to look for another quarterback? It seems the off-season drama is firing up one more time before spring ball begins.
