Kentucky set to receive visit from first transfer prospect this offseason -- a big time shot blocker

The Kentucky Wildcats and new head coach Mark Pope are set to receive their first visit from a transfer prospect this spring.

According to On3.com's Joe Tipton, Drexel forward Amari Williams will be visiting Kentucky April 21-22.

Williams is a 6-foot-10, 230-pounder who averaged 12.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game this season. He finished with 10 double-digit rebounding games and eight double-doubles.

Williams is best known for his defensive ability and shot blocking. He led the CAA in blocks last year for the third straight season and has averaged 1.8 blocks per game over the course of the last three years. He had a block rate of 8.3 percent this past season and 8.7 percent for his career.

As a junior, Williams averaged 13.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. He also led the country in defensive rating and was 15th in the nation in blocks per game.

He ranked in the top-16 in the nation in player efficiency rating in each of the last two seasons.

Williams has started 79 of 105 games in his career. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Kentucky is need for front court depth. Both Aaron Bradshaw and Zvonimir Ivisic have entered the transfer portal this offseason. Tre Mitchell also graduated this offseason.

Kentucky does return -- as of now -- rising junior Ugonna Onyenso, a 7-foot and 250-pounder who averaged 3.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game last year.
