Kentucky fans, hold onto your hats! This team may not win the national championship, but with the No. 2 ranked offensive and 340th ranked defense, every game is going to be exciting in the NCAA Tournament.

John Calipari has the Cats back in the tournament for the 12th time and the 61st in program history. After missing March Madness in 2021, UK has qualified as an at-large team for the third straight year, this time as the No. 3 seed in the South Region.

The Wildcats finished the regular season with a 23-8 record, but as the No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament, were bounced in the quarterfinals by Texas A&M. Cal hasn’t led the team to an SEC Tournament title since 2018, and worse yet, hasn’t made it past the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament since reaching the Elite Eight in 2019 behind P.J. Washington, Tyler Herro, and Keldon Johnson.

This season, the Cats are led by two freshmen who will soon join Washington, Herro, and Johnson in the NBA, Rob Dillingham and Reed Sheppard, along with fifth-year senior Antonio Reeves. Reeves was a part of last year’s team that lost in the second round to Kansas State as a No. 6 seed. His shot at redemption will start on Thursday at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.

In the Round of 64 Kentucky will face the 14th-seeded Oakland Golden Grizzlies, the champions of the Horizon League on Thursday, March 21 at 7:10 pm ET on CBS.
