Kentucky freshman Travis Perry scored 5,481 points in his high school career and did so in numerous ways. His offensive skillset led him to winning Mr. Basketball in the state of Kentucky last year, as well as a state championship.

He's best known for his shooting ability, however. The 6-foot-2 point guard shot 41.7 percent from three as a senior and came to Lexington with the reputation as exactly that -- a shooter.

And when his teammates were asked this week who the most impressive shooter was on the roster, senior big man Andrew Carr didn't flinch -- Travis Perry.

"i think it's pretty cool -- Travis Perry has done a really good job working out and seeing him in there," Carr said. "Sometimes you walk in and he's at 500 or 600 shots up in a day and he's still is at like 85 percent ... it's all 3s and he's at 85 percent. It's pretty crazy. (He's) been lighting it up and even made 59 in a row from the corner the other day."

59 in a row?! He's certainly living up to that shooting reputation in his early days in Lexington.

Perry was a four-star guard in the 2024 class but didn't see his recruitment really expand beyond the midwest. Schools like Indiana, Cincinnati, Iowa and others were involved -- but Kentucky was the program that always had his heart.

“It’s a dream come true," Perry said last month. " ... I remember coming to camps, waiting outside the Lodge trying to get autographs. Now I’m the one walking into the Lodge to go to my room. It’s just stuff like that puts it in perspective, how blessed I am to be able to live out a dream. It’s just really exciting.”
