Liam Coen is trying back in the NFL again, which means next season he’ll come back to Lexington. But for the time being, Coen is with the Buccaneers and may want a familiar face on his offense. Last year, the Buccaneers ranked 32nd in rushing offense with Rachaad White at running back. White is a good player, but Davis’s downhill one-cut style will is better for Coen’s system.
The main knock on Davis is the lack of tread on the tires. He’s an older player who has a bit of an injury history and lacks top-end speed, but the Buccaneers don’t have to be concerned about how Davis will age. He can be a starter right away as a mid-round pick while the team searchings for a long-term solution at the position.
Davis could run for 1,000 yards as a rookie if he lands with the Bucs because he’d be the most talented runner in Tampa’s backfield from Day 1.
