Jamal Murray was in a perfect role on the 2015-16 Kentucky Wildcats next to Tyler Ulis in the backcourt. Ulis was a perfect playmaker to set up Murray, who was more comfortable as a deadeye three-point shooter than a ballhandling facilitator.
Murray excelled as Kentucky's shooting guard, knocking down 113 three-pointers while shooting 40.8% from behind the arc. Murray averaged 20.0 points a game and led the Wildcats to a share of the SEC regular season title. However, the Wildcats struggled in the NCAA Tournament and were bounced in the second round.
Murray has found another perfect fit playing with Nikola Jokic in the NBA. Murray was the seventh overall pick to Denver in the 2016 draft and just won his first NBA title with the Nuggets in 2023.
