Kentucky Baseball is ranked #17 after a weekend sweep at Ole Miss

After being ranked #24 via D1 Baseball. The Bat Cats take down Miami (OH) in the midweek game and then take down ranked Ole Miss in a weekend sweep. Let's take a look at these games.

On Tuesday, the Cats took down Miami (OH) thanks to a six-run seventh inning. The Cats took that one 9-5, behind two RBIs behind Nick Lopez and a seven players had a RBI.

On Friday, the weekend series started in Oxford against the Ole Miss Rebels. Game #1 was the closest game of the weekend. The Cats won the game 5-3 thanks to a three-run sixth inning, despite only registering five hit.

On Saturday, the Cats took a 1-0 lead in the series. The momentum took off in the second inning after Ole Miss scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning. From the second to the sixth inning, the Cats outscored Ole Miss 13-0, essentially ending the game. In the ninth inning, the Cats added four more runs to to win 17-9.

Nick Lopez and Nolan McCarthy each had three hits in the game. Nolan McCarthy also had six runs batted in. Then, the Cats headed into Easter Sunday with another SEC series win and the chance to sweep the Rebels on their home field.

The Cats did just that. Kentucky took down the Rebels 15-1 in seven innings, scoring 32 runs in 16 innings. James McCoy had three hits, while Nolan McCarthy, Nick Lopez, and Ryan Waldschmidt had two hits each.

The Cats took advantage of their opportunities and swept the Rebels in Oxford, outscoring them 37-13 over the weekend. Kentucky moved to 24-4 and 8-1 in SEC play. This is a very fun team to watch. They play the Louisville Cardinals on Tuesday night at Kentucky Proud Park at 7 p.m. Now rescheduled for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
