Former Wildcat participating in Super Bowl LVIII
By Tyler Reed
It is Super Bowl week, and for one former Kentucky football standout, this game will mean more than most. The Wildcats had a few former stars get their chance in the NFL Playoffs this season. However, only one will have the opportunity to raise the Lombardi Trophy when the night is over.
Mike Edwards - Kansas City Chiefs
Mike Edwards was a pillar for the Kentucky defense during his time in Lexington. Edwards played safety for the Wildcats during the 2015-2018 seasons, which included the memorable 10-3 season capped off with a Citrus Bowl victory over Penn State. In 2019, Edwards was selected in third round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
His time in Tampa was capped off with a Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV. Now, Edwards will be looking to help the Chiefs win back-to-back Super Bowls, this time over the San Francisco 49ers. So, if you don't have a horse in this race, maybe rooting for the Kentucky kid will help you enjoy the big game even more.
