Former Kentucky basketball guard sets BIG3 scoring record
By Alec Lasley
It may not be the NBA and it may not be in a massive professional league, but one former Kentucky guard is still making a name for himself after his days in Lexington.
Isaiah Briscoe -- yes that Isaiah Briscoe -- is having a great stretch of play in the BIG3, the 3-on-3 league created by Ice Cube.
Over the weekend, Briscoe lit it up and set a league scoring record. He scored 37 points to go along with seven rebounds despite a loss.
Briscoe is in his third season with the BIG3, playing every season with Trilogy. After a breakout frist season, he is the leading scorer in the league through four games with a 20.5 point per game average. He has two 20+ point games this season.
Trilogy is coming off of back-to-back league championships in 2021 and 2022 before falling short in 2023. They have three championships in the league's six seasons.
Briscoe joined the BIG3 after having success overseason the past few years. Playing in Poland, Estonia and Germany, his best success game with Kalev/Cramo in the Esonian Basketball League when he won the 'young Player of the Year Award' given to players under the age of 23.
Briscoe also spent some time with the Philadelphia 76ers and Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA before going overseas.
The New Jersey native spent two seasons at Kentucky under John Calipari where he averaged 10.9 points across 70 games. He went undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft.
