Mark Pope and others are suggesting that there could be a nice matchup between the current Kentucky roster and the 'La Familia' TBT team.

Could the Kentucky roster get its first test of the summer and do so against UK alumni? There's certainly a lot of talk about it.

With TBT quickly approaching and Rupp Arena hosting a regional, Kentucky's alumni team will be back in town over the next few weeks. So, could we get an opportunity to see both teams face each other?

According to a report by the Lexington Herald-Leader, there is an expected scrimmage between the two teams.

Headlined by the Harrison twins, other members of the roster include Kellan Grady, Eric Bledsoe Marquis Teague, Nate Sestina, James Young, Reid Travis, Doron Lamb, Daniel Orton and Willie Cauley-Stein.

"It's going to be a huge deal," Kentucky head coach Mark Pope said last week. "We're going to take every opportunity to support these greats. We have three national champions that are coming back to be a part of this team and a bunch of guys that went far in the NCAA Tournament and served Kentucky really well and a bunch of draft picks, guys that had good careers in the league.

"So, to have those former players back is really special and we're incredibly excited to take full advantage of that."

La Familia is the No. 2 seed in the Lexington Region of the $1 million event and will face off against the 305 Racers in the first round on July 19 at 8:00 pm on FS2.

While most of the group has played together in some capacity in the past, having the opportunity to face off against another group of players will certainly be valuable as they head into the tournament.

Kentucky, on the other hand, will have a chance at putting its chemistry to the test with 12 players who have never played with each other, other than the two weeks they've been on campus.

Mark Pope has done a phenominal job getting the former players and rest of the fanbase back on board after a very difficult past few months.

This is another chance to get former players back on campus and in the facilities ahead of his debut season, in a new era of Kentucky basketball.

"One of the great things for us is that former players are allowed to be on the court with our current players," Pope continued. "These guys are preparing for a tournament where they have a chance to represent Kentucky and themselves in a brilliant way and we're trying to prepare for a huge season and so we're going to try to do that together a little bit."
