Chaz Lanier has been linked to Kentucky over the last week and he may be the best true-scorer left in the portal at the guard position.

At 6-foot-4, Lanier averaged 19.7 points per game last season and shot 51 percent from the field and 44 percent from three -- on 3.3 makes per game.

Lanier led the A-Sun in player efficiency and was 13th in effective field goal rate in the entire country. He can score and he's effective doing so.

Lanier had four 30+ point games and 15 games with at least 20 points. There was only one time he failed to reach double-digits.

There were 15 games where Lanier shot at least 50 percent from the floor and only five games when he shot less than 40 percent.

Lanier made at least three 3s 23 times with 11 3s being at least 25 feet.

Lanier ranked in the 96th percentile in catch and shoot 3s, with a 67 percent effective field goal rate. He ranked in the 93rd percentile in scoring as the ball handler off of screens, and 90th percentile in dribble-hand off scoring. So, needless to say he is extremely lethal on or off the ball.

The one negative? He only did it for one year. In his three years before 2023-24, he averaged just 4.2 points in 18.8 minutes a game. Could his 2023-24 season be due to the increased volume? Absolutely. But also, how will that look at the SEC level?
