Kentucky women's soccer starts red-hot with 2 shutouts

The Kentucky Women’s Soccer team opened its 2025 season with an exclamation point, putting on a pair of performances that left no doubt about the program’s direction. Two games. Eleven goals. Zero conceded. A fortress at the Bell remains unbroken as the Wildcats extended their home unbeaten streak to 16 straight matches.

Opening night brought fireworks against Jackson State in a 4-0 rout. The story of the night belonged to sophomore Anna Sikorski, who turned a modest freshman campaign into a springboard moment. She struck twice inside the first 20 minutes—first from a crafty free kick in the ninth minute, then with poise from the penalty spot. The Wildcats dominated possession at nearly 70 percent, fired 25 shots, and denied their opponent a single shot on target. It was a textbook example of control from whistle to whistle.

Two nights later, the Cats dialed up the intensity even more. On Senior Day, they overwhelmed West Georgia in a 7-0 clinic that tied the sixth-highest scoring mark in school history. Senior leadership took center stage, beginning with Thalia Morisi’s goal just 55 seconds into play. Fellow seniors Skye Leach and Catherine Rapp joined the party, with Rapp’s two goals and two assists securing a four-point afternoon she won’t soon forget.

The scoring was balanced and relentless. Six different Wildcats found the net, including four players who tallied their first career goals in Kentucky blue. By the end of the weekend, Kentucky had outshot its opponents by a jaw-dropping 53-1 margin.

Head coach Troy Fabiano has quietly built a squad that looks every bit the contender. With a nine-match homestand ahead, beginning Thursday against ETSU, the Wildcats have a golden opportunity to build momentum. They’re fast, deep, and dangerous, and with free admission, Big Blue Nation has every reason to pack the Bell and witness a team writing history on its home pitch. Remember the Cats made the big dance last year for the first time in a decade, getting back to back tournament appearances will be huge. So go show up at the Bell.
