In a 25-point victory, it's easy to overlook small mistakes. But for Kentucky Head Coach Mark Stoops, one specific breakdown in execution was so glaring that he addressed it multiple times after the game: the center-quarterback exchange.

Early in the third quarter, with Kentucky driving to put the game away, a fumbled snap between center Jager Burton and quarterback Cutter Boley on the 2-yard line killed a touchdown drive and forced the Wildcats to settle for a field goal. For Stoops, this was unacceptable.

"That's a problem" that has to be fixed now

"That’s a problem," Stoops stated emphatically in his press conference. "Jager and him, we fumbled a snap on the 2, we had one on the ground late. That can’t happen. That is a simple fundamental that we have to get corrected."

The fact that the head coach singled out this specific mechanical issue, not once but multiple times, indicates it's a major point of emphasis for the staff. While fans were focused on the deep passes and touchdowns, Stoops was zeroed in on a "simple fundamental" that could be the difference between winning and losing in the SEC. It’s a clear sign that during this bye week, the focus will be on cleaning up the small, "sloppy" details that have been holding the team back.

The poor offensive play calling felt a little better this week, but there were still some penalties and some execution mistakes that have lead to 9 straight power 5 home game losses. Focusing on the small things is great, but why should time be devoted to that in week 3 when you have a returning staff? It is odd.
