When Mark Pope took to X and Instagram yesterday to ask the Big Blue Nation for any and all questions they may have about Kentucky Basketball right now, many fans were taken aback by this plainly bold move. Coach Pope essentially opened the floor to criticism, and criticism came.

While some folks gave him the benefit of the doubt and threw some softballs in the comment section, other fans joined the firestorm in an aggressive pursuit of answers. Now, just one day later, some answers have arrived.

And, to Pope's immense credit, he didn't pick and choose from the softballs. Kentucky's head coach answered some heavy-hitters, and gave fans a look into his recent recruiting endeavors in the process.

Coach Pope Playing Ball With BBN

Right off the bat, a fan asked: "Is Kentucky being used by players to leverage for more NIL?" Fans have often publicly wondered if the blue and white are being used as a hedge and, unsurprisingly, Pope confirmed that this is indeed the case.

"Yes. We're the biggest brand in basketball," he said plainly. Fair play. Onto the next.

"What changes are being made to recruiting? You have to see a problem with 14 top 20 kids visiting and landing none. What's the change(s)?" This statistic is one that has been floated commonly in Pope's direction in recent weeks, and he finally took it to task.

"Well the first change, I'd like to get all 20 kids to visit our campus..." Pope began, "Second, I'd like to land a few. Third, this year, we were chasing a generational talent, and we fell a little short. But we weren't sitting on our hands, we've put together a roster that we are going to love watching crush it at Rupp Arena."

Pope admitting the Tyran Stokes miss out in the open air may reopen the wound, but it's a necessary step for fans to move past that nearly year-long plan, if nothing else.

Beyond those first two queries, Pope also confirmed that Kentucky is still searching for options in the transfer portal to "shore up" the five-spot as the team waits on - and, according to Pope - supports Malachi Moreno's ultimate NBA Draft decision.

Pope also noted that, in addition to visiting the now-lost Marcio Santos in Tel Aviv, that he traveled to Ljubljana, Milan, Cremona, as well as "five or six cities in the states" on recent recruiting visits.

Contrary to a growingly popular sentiment, Kentucky still has money to spend yet, and the roster is not yet complete. In the meantime, let's hope Pope stays hyperactive on the recruiting trail; although, it wouldn't be so bad if he found the time to answer another batch of the BBN's burning questions.

In his own words: "Keep the questions coming BBN!"
