Mark Pope may have just found his next major get for Kentucky's momentous 2027 class

Mark Pope pushing the envelope with Milan Momcilovic's commitment signaled to Kentucky fans that their head coach is finally prioritizing his specific brand of high-scoring offense. From there, the commitment of five-star wing Ryan Hampton doubled down on that insistence; "finally," Lexington said in unison: Pope is beginning to build what he was brought here to execute.

And with an official offer now extended to four-star Ahmed Nur, Pope is even further working to cement his sudden commitment to the style of play that had his heart all along. Nur, who announced the offer himself on social media, is one of the biggest risers in the 2027 class.

With Kentucky officially in the hunt for Nur's pledge, securing and pairing him with Hampton would position the 2027-28 Wildcats as one of the most promising scoring squads in the SEC with just two players technically under their belt.

Nur (appears) to be that good. From here on out, it'll be about getting the forward on a campus visit and, just like Hampton, finding a way to lock him down before one of his many additional suitors manage to do the same thing. That's recruiting for ya, folks - it all moves so fast.

Finding a Way to Lock Ahmed Nur Down Early

Nur, who has already visited Purdue and has trips scheduled to see Ole Miss, Syracuse, and Washington, earned the MVP in the NBPA camp in June. At the event, he shot a scorching 56.3% number from range on better than five attempts per contest.

He moves extremely well for his size, at 6-foot-8, and his length allows him to shoot over just about anyone in his way. Nur can get to the rack with fluid ease in addition to his trademark ability to score from distance; defense and playmaking are current question marks, but Nur could go down as the best pure scorer in the entire class.

It makes sense, then, why Pope is starting to test the waters here. And, as far as I'm concerned, this is one to throw the NIL bag at and figure the details once he's in the blue and white.

Kentucky Should Throw an NIL Bag at Nur

Whether Hampton and Nur play the 2/3 or 3/4, they'd create a scoring crux for Pope to build on in the 2027 class. It's way too early to make any concrete prediction, but I like to think Zoom Diallo has a good year and returns for his senior campaign in Lexington.

Slide him in at the one and maybe an again improved Kam Williams returns for his fourth year, jumping into the middle of Hampton and Nur at the three, and you've got a dream team for Coach Pope's preferences.

Maybe I'm just getting ancy for a commitment like the rest of Kentucky fans, but this one makes sense given Pope's last two wins on the recruiting front. If Nur gets a visit scheduled to Rupp, we can officially sound the big blue alarm.
