Malachi Moreno believes Mark Pope's latest commitment makes Kentucky a dangerous team

In the eyes of Kentucky's returning big, Mark Pope just secured the cherry on top of what is now a dangerous roster.

Big Blue Nation, the wait is finally over: Milan Momcilovic is officially a Kentucky Wildcat, and Mark Pope's third-year team has shot up national boards and directly into serious, competitive conversations. After weeks of arguing with Louisville fans and biding time, the blue and white got a much-needed win in this recruitment.

As Kentucky continues to work their way into elite discussions (where they belong), guys on the roster have come out and expressed their own excitement for Momcilovic essentially finalizing the 2026-27 roster.

In addition to freshman guard Mason Williams gaining thousands of likes for simply posting "How we feeling now #bbn" on X, Nick Lazaroff shared a video with Malachi Moreno at the Great Crossing basketball camp.

In it, Moreno touched on the Momcolivoc pickup, sharing a confidence with the BBN that fans should be thrilled to hear come from their hometown star.

A Dangerous Kentucky Team

"It's great," Moreno said of the addition, "He's a shooter, the best shooter in the country last year. We knew we needed it, and he fits Pope's offense perfectly."

Momcilovic's 48.7% metric from long range led the NCAA last season, leading the wing expert to about 17 points per contest on an Iowa State team that beat Kentucky on the way to a second weekend appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

"So, we're gonna be dangerous," said Moreno. The entire state of Kentucky seconds that.

Wherever Momcilovic ends up slotting into the starting lineup - the three and four spots each offer their own benefits - the offense will likely flow through him. Kentucky's guards will be made better by his flexible ability on that side of the ball, and as Momcilovic pulls defenders out to the wing, Moreno should have more room to operate, too.

Momcilovic Makes This Team Better

In more ways than one, Momcilovic is a guy that makes this team better. No matter where Kentucky ends up in official preseason rankings down the line (ESPN currently has the Cats at No. 17), Pope's roster has more tools suited to his style of play now than ever.

Not only has Kentucky's head coach gained more than a bit of favor back with a fanbase that was growing impatient with recruiting misfires, but he's given fellow SEC competitors real reasons to expect an ascension from the Wildcats this season.

I'm like many Kentucky fans in not wanting to get ahead of myself - especially after last year - but the city of Lexington could be in for the most fun basketball team they've seen in years. Fingers will remain crossed until the fall, but every light has flipped from red to green.
