The Kentucky versus Louisville hoops matchup has been a mainstay for years. It's one of the best hoops in-state rivalries in college basketball. The vitriol that each program has for the other is off the charts. There is always great trash talk ahead of the rivalries and bulletin board material. Kentucky fans already have their first of the week from Terrence Edwards Jr., who said something absolutely ridiculous when talking about the rivalry game.

"Some of us came here just to play Kentucky" is quite the line and one that I'm not sure he realized is not a diss but a compliment. The Wildcats is such a big brand that players can't get into the school, so they go to the rivals just to play them? It only harkens back to the reality that Kentucky is the 'Super Bowl' for so many teams. Right, I know, I'm not supposed to say that, and neither is Pope, but it's true.

In an interview with Cards Radio, Edwards said that when he first came to Louisville, someone came up to him and said, "We don't care if you win NO games this year, we just want you to beat Kentucky...Three other people said the same thing to me."

Edwards said that his team is ready, "We are committed to this game and we are ready. Some of us came here just to play Kentucky."

The Louisville Cardinals, now coached by Pat Kelsey, will be ready for this matchup and will do anything they can to win it. Kelsey is known for motivating his guys to leave it all on the floor, and there's no better way to convince them to do so than to have a rivalry matchup in what many Louisville players and fans see as the biggest game of the year. Kentucky also better be ready for what the Cardinals will throw at them in order to win the game.
