One moment proves Louisville’s little brother syndrome is not going anywhere

They just can't help themselves

Louisville talks a lot of smack for a team that has lost three straight, eight of the last 10, and is just 17-40 overall against the real kings of the state: Kentucky.

That "little brother syndrome" was on full display this week as usual.

During their game on Thursday night, what few Louisville fans that were in the Yum Center for a win over Jackson State actually chanted "Beat UK." Not only is that weird, it’s the exact kind of energy you’d expect from a team who is jealous of the state's bigger team across I65 in Lexington.

But that wasn't the moment that proved the point. No that was post game, when coach and player alike couldn't help.

After the game, coach Pat Kelsey said, "I didn't need to say much to our guys in the locker room afterwards. They know the deal." Louisville's Kasean Pryor then took it a step further.

"We'll see you guys on Tuesday after a win. F--k 'em," Pryor said as he left the press conference.

Listen, Louisville is good this year, and they may pull off an upset in the Yum Center. But maybe don't talk so much when you have won so little. There is a reason Kentucky is the King of the Bluegrass.

Jaland Lowe has the perfect response for Kentucky basketball

In response after Kentucky's 107-59 demolition of Valparaiso, Jaland Lowe was asked about the comments and delivered a chilling, perfect response.

"I mean that’s cool. They gonna talk. It’s a rivalry, you want that," Lowe said. "By all means, they can chirp, and I think we’ll save our chirping during the game and after the game — when we win. We’ll just leave it at that.”

This game is better when both programs are good, and that is certainly the case this year with both the No. 9 Wildcats and No. 11 Cardinals ranked in the Top 15.
