La Familia beating The Ville in TBT's opening three-game series was enough to satiate the summer basketball hunger of many Kentucky fans; send the Cardinals home, in any sport during any season, and the big blue faithful will be happy. But at the same time, winning that series signaled to Kentucky fans that this year's La Familia team may be capable of more.
Now, one single-elimination game later, the Wildcats have been officially advanced. Boeheim's Army (Syracuse alumni) came to Memorial Coliseum on the heels of a 2-0 win in their own opening series vs. Hall In (Seton Hall alums) and, in spite of taking a lead for most of the second half, fell short to La Familia on a Kahlil Whitney slam. Kentucky moves on, 70-66.
The home team led 39-36 at the end of the second period, but at that point, the blue and white's momentum had already begun to slip. A sizable lead early gave way to a slow-drip comeback from Boeheim's Army that led to an extremely stressful second period for La Familia.
But it ended up being an all-time performance from late arrival Archie Goodwin that elevated the former Cats to the next round. Our guy just delivers again and again, BBN.

Archie Goodwin Elevates La Familia to a Tight-Knit Win
Goodwin finished with a whopping 30 points, shooting 5-9 from long distance. This is an alumnus who, just last week, was being scrutinized by fans and another former player alike on social media for not playing in La Familia's first two games.
I think it's safe to say that Goodwin has now earned some permanent love in Lexington (more than he already had), and he wasn't alone in solid performances in Sunday's second-round contest.
Darryl Morsell, who played at Marquette and is an technical Cat in TBT this summer, followed behind Goodwin with 11 points and, get this, 12 rebounds. Fan-favorite Willie Cauley-Stein pitched in with seven points and boards of his own, leaving the orange overwhelmed in the end.
From here, La Familia will play the winner of JHX Hoops (Kansas) and the Aftershocks (Wichita State) this coming Wednesday. We'll keep you updated with the results as they come in, but for now, Cats fans should be celebrating La Familia's furthest advancement ever.
Especially given the nature of this being Cauley-Stein's last competitive basektball stint ever, according to him, we could be in for the perfect swan song for one of the most storied Wildcats to ever do it. Cross your fingers, BBN - just two more wins to win it all.
